Fruit or Salad Set: serving bowl and 4 plates

Question:
My wife’s grandparents were from the Red Wing area in Minnesota. I have a fruit salad set that consists of a bowl 13" with painted fruit, pear, apple, cherries, and grapes. It has four plates with it of each fruit 8 1/2" with ruffled edges. I found a picture of the set in a red wing book but does not list value but says a complete set is very rare. It said it was from the 1940′s. What would be the value of the set I have? Christopher

Light blue vase with raised flower design

Question:
Hi; I found this piece and thought it may be early Red wing. There are no marks and the clay seems to be less polished. Can you tell by the pictures? I have more photos but was limited to one here. Trish

Answer: Hi Trish

I think you have a piece of McCoy pottery, can’t really give you a value, but it’s a point in the right direction. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Brushed ware vase

Question:
Hello! Would you kindly let me know about the pictured brushstroke vase? It is about 10 inches high, maybe a fraction less. I know the vase has been among my family’s things for a long time, and I’ve always loved it. I’m not sure it’s from the 1930s or is part of the later pots. The stamp on the bottom is "Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn." within a circle. Let me know if you want to see other images. I have both sides, interior (glazed) and the bottom stamp. The "Union" in the stamp is sort of jumbled, as though the word was bumped after it was stamped but before it was set. Thanks very much! Sue

Answer: Hi Sue

this is indeed an older pot, from the brushedware line, circa 1930. Value is around 90.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Village Green bean pot oven use

Question:
Question about Red Wing Village Green bean pot 4 qt. and 2 qt. size. Could it be used to bake beans in the oven at a reasonable temperature for needed time periods or was it intended to be only a piece of decorative serving dinnerware? I suppose the same question could also be asked about the covered casseroles of this same Village Green pattern. Thanks for your opinion. James
