Question:
I found a large crock in my parents’ basement. It measures 17" in diameter by 17" high. It has a large blue "12" just below the rim, a large red "Red Wing" emblem in the middle and "Union 1 Stoneware" id in an oval near the bottom. I will have to do some heavy duty cleaning before I can take a photo. Can you please tell me more about this piece? Thank you. Chuck
Answer: Chuck, you have a 12 gallon Red Wing crock. If there are no handles on this crock, it was produced between 1909 & 1915. If there are handles, it was produced anywhere between 1915 & 1947. Value will depend on condition, size of the red wing and how well the decorations are applied. A photo would be a huge help with it’s value along with condition. Al Kohlman
