Question:
I was given a yellow banana cookie jar marked Red Wing on the bottom. It is discolored around the top of the jar. There are three small chips on the tips of the bananas and a chip on the bottom of the jar. The lid is in great condition. Sorry, there is no photo to upload. How old is it? and, what is it worth, if anything? Thank you! Kate

Answer: The banana cookie jar was one of several fruit-shaped cookie jars made by Red Wing during the World War II years. These jars are quite popular with collectors. In mint condition the yellow banana cookie jar would be worth around $200 but the chips and stains will reduce the value significantly, probably by 50% or more depending on the visibility of the damage.
