Question:
I have 2 dinner plates & 2 saucers similar in shape to the Lotus Pattern, but these plates have an iris. I did not see this pattern listed on the web site. Where can I find info about these plates? Thank you, Kim ~Vintage Peddlers

Answer: The name of your pattern is Iris. Both Lotus and Iris are patterns made in the Concord shape. Iris was produced for about five years in the early 1950s. Many collectors consider Iris to be one of Red Wing’s prettiest dinnerware patterns. While certainly not rare, Iris is rather scarce today and values are relatively high.

There are price guides available but I’m not aware of any resource that goes into significant detail on Iris dinnerware. The Red Wing Dinnerware website http://www.redwingdinnerware.com/ shows a high quality photo of a dinner plate from each Red Wing pattern. This site also includes photos of most other pieces in at least one pattern from each shape. For example, click on the Iris plate and follow the links. While you will not see other Iris pieces, you will find photos of nearly every piece of Lotus made to represent the Concord shape. Most of these pieces (except the vases) are also available in Iris. This website also includes a section on other references for Red Wing dinnerware.
