Question:
I have a 6 gallon redwing butter churn, with elephant ear handles on it. And it has (Mark-2) birch leaves, and the (Mark 1b) Union Stoneware co. oval marking on it. It is in great shape, and no cracks. I would like to know what it is really worth if anything. You can e-mail me at hurleyc@hotmail.com if you can help me. Thank you for the help. Chad
Answer: Chad, your 6 gallon butter churn was manufactured by the Minnesota Stoneware Company. In Mint condition with great markings it can bring has high as $500. If the ink is Blue rather than Black, the demand is greater in the eyes of most Red Wing Collectors. If I had a photo of your churn I could better help you out. Churns have always been one of my favorite Red Wing stoneware pieces to collect. Al Kohlman
