Question:
I recently obtained a collection of Red Wing Dinnerware. I don’t know what it is and how much its worth though. Can you help me. I have attached a picture of one piece from each different type. It appears to include tea cups, small plates, large plates, bowls, and a serving tray. Thank You!

Answer: The name of your pattern is Smart Set. It was introduced in 1953 and produced through 1957 (it is not listed in 1958 catalogs). Smart Set is quite popular with collectors today. Basic serving pieces like yours have value, but some of the hard-to-find accessory pieces are worth considerably more.

The approximate values for your Smart Set serving pieces are shown below. These ranges assume excellent condition; any damage reduces the value significantly.
Cup = $10 to $15
Small plate = $10 to $15
Dinner plate = $20 to $30
Bowl (several sizes were made) = $10 to $25
13" Platter = $35 to $50
