Question:
Dear Mr. Kohlmann,
My brother Steve Currence sent you a photo Sunday evening of an 8 gallon Union Stoneware Pottery crock with NO signature red wing stamp. What does this mean? Do we have something rare and valuable here? Or just a worthless freak? We are on pins and needles waiting to find out!
It is really great that the Red Wing Collector’s Society offers a service where the general public can get opinions about Red Wing Pottery from knowlegeable experts like you.
So thank you in advance for the time you will spend evaluating our crock. It is a part of our deceased mother’s estate. She grew up on a small dairy farm in southwestern MN and HER mother used to make old-fashioned dill pickles in it.
Best regards,
Carolyn Vaughan
Quartette beverage server and Red Wing USA 415 dish
Question:
I would like to know date, design, name of red color and value of this matching Red Wing coffee server and scalloped dish. Dish is marked ‘Red Wing USA 415′ Coffee server lid has tiny chip under edge (not visible when lid is on) and hairline crack as a result; ‘tab-like’ handle on lid was broken off mid-way and re-glued slightly off-center (ugh!). Condition is excellent otherwise. Would like to sell both. Looks like ‘Lotus’ coffee servers I’ve seen in other colors, shown without the dish. Thank you! Kathy
