Redwing USA 1479
Question:
I have a medium size vaze with the spiky metal flower holder inside. (not sure what that’s called!) It is oval shaped, aprox. 10" long by 5" wide, 3 1/4 " deep. It’s in very good condition, no chips or wear. The glaze is a charcoal black. On the bottom is stamped: Redwing USA 1479 I was given this piece as a gift and am curious about it’s time period and it’s value. Thank you! Lisa
Answer: Hi Lisa
I would call this a planter, but there are some candleholders that match it, so it could be a console bowl, as well. It dates to around 1955. Value is around 25.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
Red Wing Art Pottery 198
Question:
This is a pottery bowl w handles and green glaze it’s in very good condition no cracks or chips just some discoloring on bottom and it is marked in blue ink Red Wing Art Pottery 198. Was wanting to know about the value and a little history because the marking are diff than the red wing i see when I’ve tried to research this piece .Send email I’ll send pics !! April
Answer: Hi April
your bowl dates to around 1930, it is the earlier timeframe for red wing artware. If it’s a matt mottled green green glaze, it would be Nokomis, value around 200.00 or so. If it’s a shiney gloss green, value around 100.00 or so. hope this helps, thanks, steve n rose
Brown Mug, Red Wing
Question:
I would like to know if the pitcher happens to be red wing. It is 7-1/4" tall. Also have a mug that is 4-5/8" tall. The mug has a 16 in blue on the bottom. The pitcher has "circles" around the spout and on bottom. If not Red Wing, do you know who made them and of course age and value. Thanks. Ramola

1 gallon Red Wing Stoneware Union Mason Fruit Jar
Question:
I have a 1 gallon Red Wing Stoneware Union Mason Fruit Jar, with patent date Jan. 24, 1899 stamped on the bottom. It is in perfect condition, except that it has a Ball zinc lid on it. I think originally the jar would have had a different zinc screw on lid and a rubber gasket. Could you please tell me what the lid would have been and if you know of a source for the correct lid, so that I can restore my jug to original condition? It is my understanding that with the original lid, this jug is worth about $850. Could you please verify that for me? (Fun fact: I found this jug in a hillside junk pile when I was a teenager, while picking with my father. The lid was missing when I found it)! Thank you very much! Deb

Charles Murphy chrystalline lamps with birds
Question:
Hi again,Can you give me a guesstimate on the value of my Charles Murphy chrystalline lamps with birds? They are a matched set,in perfect condition. The estate where I purchased them also had Yearbooks (from the 50s) for Red Wing high school. Is it possible to find out if a specific person worked in the factory during the time this designer line was produced? Thanks again,Kim
Answer: Hi Kim
The Society and Foundation do have some records of who worked at the factory. I think the birds came off shape 1296. Book value for the lamps are around 400.00 each. It’s just really hard to say what they would sell for, some people aren’t fond of lamp bases, and yet the birds will add some interest, too. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Stoneware Fruit Jar” “Manufactured by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Red Wing, Minn
Question:
I can’t seem to find anything on the "Red Wing Stoneware Fruit Jar" "Manufactured by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Red Wing, Minn." It has a different shape than the fruit jars I have seen in research. It also has no patent number or stamp on the bottom and doesn’t look like it ever had one. The jar is tan with blue script lettering on the front, no cracks, crazes or chips, has a grey Ball screw-on lid and a red rubber gasket, both in excellent condition. The inside is the same as the outside. The back of the jar says, in san serif straight type, "Before filling, warm jar by placing in hot water, then pour fruit in boiling hot. Light cannot effect (sic) or fade the contents." This wording is framed in a blue rectangle. The jar came from my husband’s mother’s home in Greybull, Wyoming. We’d like to know an approximate date it was manufactured and how much yo think it might be worth to a collector. Dee
