Question:
I found this redwing pitcher at a Goodwill store. Was wondering what era it is from and if there is a name to it – is it milk pitcher? It stands 8" high, the wing is 2.5" across, the base is 4" wide and the rim is blue and has a pour spout and is not totaly round, somewhat oblong. it is totally clean inside and has no chips or cracks looks brand new. Also has a round mark on the bottom redwing, minnesota. Is there a value to it?

question from: mamoquinm@aol.com

Question:
Hi there

When I was growing up, my mom had a cookie jar on the counter… It was an all-yellow dutch girl. I think now it was probably a Red Wing Karina cookie jar. I have been looking for an all-yellow one and have never seen another. Could it indeed have been a Red Wing? Are they that rare?

Gladiolia Vase 416, 9 inch

Question:
I have this vase marked on the base RED WING U.S.A 416-9". It is creamy white in color with the inside a light green. 9 inches tall and 8 inches wide at the top. I has five openings for flowers. Not perfect with some chips on the side of the base and one on the lip of one of the compartments. What Have I got here? I use it to display roses from my garden. I am more interested in the age and name of this design than value but would still appreciate a estimated value with the chips. Thanks in advance. Fred

Answer: Hi Fred

we call these Gladious vases, but roses would work too! there were a couple different styles, and sizes. They date to the early fifties. with the cips, value is around 20.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Brown Top Shoulder Jug, Red Wing

Question:
Please tell me what you can on my jug – it has no number or wings at all, no markings, but I read what you’ve written about the base of the handle being pressed with the potters thumbs then out left to right, which mine does have that, so I believe it to be redwing? In comparison to my other jugs, this one seems to be a 2 gallon? appx 8.5" up to the brown part, total appx 13" top to bottom and appx. 10" diam. any information & value estimate is appreciated! Joel

Red Wing 310 large planter, initials AM

Question:
Hello there I have a large planter with the grape cluster/oak leaf pattern. Labeled "Red Wing USA 310" It stands approximately 10" high and is 12" wide at the top. It is a glossy tanish/very light brown in color… It also has the initials "AM" under the glaze…was there a specific artist or potter with those initials. It is in decent shape with a small bite here and there, no cracks or major chips. I do not know much about RW items and I am learning as I go. I have never seen any initials on the bottom of any RW piece. I know it must be hard to determine value without a picture…but I am most interested in the initials and why they would be there. Thank you for your time. Bernie

Answer: Hi Bernie

No pic necessary, your piece is from 1966, a year before Red Wing closed it”s doors. I’m not familiar with who "AM" would be. sometime the employees did put an inital on them, or to someone they knew. It could also be an aftermarket or hobby shop item, done after Red Wing closed. some of the molds were used by hobby shops after the factory closed. A lot of those pieces do carry initials. The original glaze color is an ivory background with a dark brown glaze "wiped" in to highlight the detail. that would tell if it was done at Red Wing or later on. Value is around 45.00. condition is everything, the dings will hurt it’s value. thanks, steve n rose
