Saffronware Bean Pot, Red Wing
Question:
I picked this piece up many years ago and was wondering what it is? I always referred to it as a cookie jar although I doubt that is the true use. It is stamped red wing saffron wear on the bottom. It seems to have discoloring in the glaze from the bottom up to the slip bands, is that from heat? I also have a lid that fits it and is ribbed as well although it was cracked completely in half and repaired poorly. What era is this piece from? thank you for your time Jean
