3 Gallon apple sauce jar

Question:
I just inherited this piece and am wondering if it really is Red Wing. It seems to have the appropriate markings on the front, but there is nothing denoting a date under the handle and I can’t see any visible marks on the bottom (it is discolored on the bottom. Also, is this an original lid? If Red Wing, what was this piece used for? It is in good shape, just having one chip on the glaze on the side, less than 1/2" in diameter. Can you also tell me an approximate value? Thanks. Colleen

Oil Lamp

Question:
My mother has an oil lamp that may be a "redwing". It is gray with 4 leaf clovers on the bowl. The bowl & base is one piece & very hard in strength. If you could give us some information on this it would be greatly appreciated or direct us to someone that could give us some answers. This is thought to pre-date civil war. Thanks so much

Answer: Hi, any Red Wing item would have been made after the civil war. I don’t know of any Red Wing shapes with the 4 leaf clover. Early American stone is always in demand. There are some books on Eastern and blue & white stoneware, they may be of more help. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Luncheon Set ??

Question:
I have 5 cup & saucer style pieces that I believe, some time ago, I saw in a Red wing catalog. I imagine originally there were 6 to the set. I would call them luncheon sets. The cups are mug style the little plates are approx. 6 inches, have a cup "hole" with a sweeping wing that goes on either side of the hole. The 5 sets I have are each a different color. White, blue, green(actually a turquoise color), and yellow. I’m going by memory here…so that may not be accurate! Any way…they are each a different color. I am interested in selling the set so would really like to know if it’s Red wing and an approx. value. I have them stored now so don’t have easy access to get a photo. Thanks for your help! Betty
