Answer: Lela, you have a gladiolus vase, circa late fifties. The glaze is called black, and value is around 55.00 or so. The glad’s will be blooming before long, go ahead and use it!! thanks, steve n rose

Hello! I own a blue vase/urn with double handles, flower criss cross pattern and band around the middle of the vase/urn. On the blue glaze there is a white speckled pattern throughout. On the bottom it says RedWing with the #748. Do you know an approximate value, what it was used for, and date of creation? Answer: Hi Anna Mae, your vase is from the late thirties, and was made for holding flowers. Think the glaze would be Dutch Blue, popular with collectors today. Value is around 65-70. Thanks for the good description, that always helps. steve n rose

Thank you for your answer regarding my vase #1376, the picture was taken in a blue room, perhaps the refection makes it look blue but it is not. It is fleak beige tones and the interior is lavender. I have looked at other pieces described as Fleck Nile Blue and they definately have more blue tones to them. Regards – Christine

Hello, I am trying to determine if this crock is Red Wing. I recently acquired it from a friend and she has no idea. It does not have any of the typical Red Wing markings that I am accustomed to. However, a coworker saw it and said he thinks it is Red Wing. The crock is dark brown on the inside and has tan/orange flecks on the outside. It is in excellent condition. It does have an indentation on the side that appears to me intentional. It also has a nub/bump on the back that also appears to be intentional. Al, I’m looking forward to your answer to my questions about a 3 gal. butter churn that I sent last nite. Anyway, I was wondering if you could also help me out with two other items I have. One is a pitcher (milk ewer?). This pitcher is 12" tall and it does have a small chip on the rim. There are no identifying marks on this pitcher so I was wondering if it was possibly Red Wing and what its approximate value is. Also, I know this is not your area of expertise but I have this Macomb stoneware 1 gal. jar (identification on bottom) with a screw top, and I haven’t been able to find anything else exactly like it. Hi – My mom gave me a Red Wing vase with 929, Red Wing, and Made in USA on the bottom. I was looking around a few RW sites and have not seen this particular vase listed anywhere. What is a vase like this worth? The vase needs a little cleaning up, and has one minor chip on the underside of the upper lip of the vase. Otherwise it is in great condition. Thanks, Randy
Answer: Randy, this vase if from about 1939. the glaze is Pompeian, brown antiqued ivory. Nice shape and glaze, but the chip will hurt it. value is around 40.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

I have a Red Wing Vase number 1175 U.S.A.with an oriental lady holding a flower on her chest. There are two tubes on either side of her for flowers. She is in light blue glaze and the rest is a gray rough pottery. The inside of the vase is glazed in a wine color as is the bottom of the vase. Stands 10 3/4. Could you give me a value and history? Answer: Irene, This item is from circa 1942. Think there are around seven different shapes with this glaze, called Engobe. Charles Murphy designed them. Haven’t seen any of these sell for awhile, but they are very desireable items. Value is around 400.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
