Charles Murphy Vase 1175

Question:
My step great-grandmother has a piece of Charles Murphy art pottery I think from the 30s. A double vase "bronze tan engobe" with the female figure at the center. Here is a link to her picture from the WI Pottery Assoc. http://www.wisconsinpottery.org/RedWing/RedWing2002show/artware/rw-037a.jpg We would be curious to know what you think the value of this piece is. It\’s in mint condition. Thanks, Staci

Answer: Staci, just happened to answer the same questions a few days ago! The 1175 is worth around 400.00 or so. They are fairly rare, it just depends on the current market. thanks, steve n rose (she is from around 1942)

Grave side vases

Question:
Hi there…we have these two jugs jars that we’d love to know some information about. Thank you for any information you can provide. Cari

Answer: Hi Cari, these are made by Red Wing, circa 1930. Used to hold flowers on graves. Think they were a modified brushware shape. The label was left blank, and the person’s name could be added. Value around 80-100 each. thanks, steve n rose

Book Values

Question:
Hi, can you tell me a book with current values and guides for red wing and also maybe Pfaltzgraff? Thanks for your time!

Answer: For stoneware, there are two, by Depasquale, Peck, and Peterson. An identification and price guide. Art Pottery’s best is done by Reiss, two volumes, with pics and prices. I’m sure Pfaltzgraff has a book, perhaps amazon or the local antique mall may carry that. thanks, steve n rose
