Glazed 6 gallon Crock

Question:
Hi, I have a glazed pot with handles. The #6 in blue,is on the front of the pot.I t says it was patented Dec.21,1921.Below the red wing,(towards the bottom of the pot) circled in blue, it readsred wing union stoneware co. Red Wing Minn. The handles are wire with black wooden dowel type thing.I would really appreciate what you think the value might be. Sorry I don’t have picture, but it is pretty clear. I hope. Thank You, Sharon D.

Answer:
Sharon, you have a Red Wing 6 gallon crock. If there are no chips, cracks or hairlines the value will be somewhere between $70 and $150 depending on the size of the Red Wing (the larger the wing – 2", 4" or 6" -the more value to the crock) and how sharp the crock looks. Any damage will reduce the value. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman

Orleans Collection

Question:
My Daughters family of 6 house burned compleatly to the ground. She inherited from us a 106 peice set of "orleans" pattern of Red Wing potters. all in mint condition. A service for 18 cups, saucers, dinner plate, salad plate, sauce dish. A sugar and creamer,1 tea pot,2 med &1 lg Platers,4 small dishes w/lids,2 sets salt and pepper shackers, 2 serving bowls.Need value for insurence. All brocken and blackened by fire, Thank you, ASP/Jan C.

Answer:
Jan, Thank you for providing a thorough description of the Orleans collection. I can readily provide an estimated value based on the information you’ve given. Book value for this collection is around $2000, assuming all pieces are in excellent condition. This figure would be considered replacement or "retail" value. In other words, what one could expect to pay an knowledgeable antique dealer to purchase such a large set. This is not the same as the value a potential seller of such a collection should expect to realize. Thanks Larry

Flower Dish – raised leaf design

Question:
Hi, I have an aqua oval flower dish with a raised leaf design. There are tiny brown specks in the aqua glaze. In addition there is a dark brown deer "frog". The glaze is very thick. Both are marked Red Wing and are in perfect condition.

Can you tell me when these were produced and what the value might be?

Thank you for your help, Marly Z.

Answer:
Marly, You have one of Red Wings most popular forms. The bowl is #526, and
the Deer frog is # 531. They were made for almost twenty years.
You have a mix & match glaze. The bowl would be Fleck Nile Blue, and
the Deer is most likely Bronze. The set may bring around 50 or so
being mismatched in glazes. thanks, steve n rose

Question:
Can you tell me the value of a large flower pot with
saucer. I believe it to be Red wing. It has a green mat finish with a cream under coat.It has leaves on it. No marks on bottom. please include any info. Thanks Linda M.

Answer:
Linda, It is hard to tell what you have. Red Wing made quite a few flower pots through out it’s history. They made flower pots with raised leaves or flowers, painted leaves or with wreaths of leaves around the pot as well as many other designs. Flower pots were made in varying sizes as well. A picture would be very helpful. Thanks, steve n rose
