Red Wing Canister set

Question:
looking for price on 4 piece red wing canister set.

Answer: Red Wing had several canister sets. If you could provide a description of the pattern or color that would be helpful in determining what set you have. To determine value we would need to know condition of each piece For example Fondoso canister covers will state "FLOUR" "SUGAR, etc. Gypsy Trail canisters have a single letter that indicates the use — S, C, F, etc. If you have a photo that would also be helpful. Please email this information to director@redwingcollectors.org.

Charles Murphy Engobe figure 1144

Question:
I have a Charles Murphy engobe figure. It’s the one on Ray Reiss 2nd book. It has some damage to the lyre, other than that there are no other chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. How much is this figurine worth and what number engobe is it? I would appreciate any info. Also, should I have this professionally repaired? Many thanks, Susan

Answer: It’s shape 1144, from around 1942. It is a nice item, as is maybe 300.00. Repaired I would think would bring twice that. These are fairly scarce, and collectors like them. thanks, steve n rose

Hearthside Dinnerware, TV Show prize

Question:
In 1961 my father was a contestant on a TV game show and won a number of things including a complete dinnerware set from Red Wing. Neither my mother nor my father were familiar with the name. For all those years the dinnerware remained in my mother’s china cabinet, being used only once or twice a year, if that. It’s in perfect condition. The service is for 12, with every possible piece: dinner plate, salad plate, dessert place, soup place, cups, saucers, the tea pot, coffee pot, several casseroles, large salad bowl, many other unique serving pieces. Also included were five or six copper colored stands that warm with a candle. These were never used. Unfortunately, my parents have both passed and we are selling the family home. I have the dinnerware set now. The photo is of some of the pieces…all seem to be hand painted with an "Americana" theme. Most of the larger pieces are marked with "Red Wing USA". Some of the plates have numbering. For example, the larger dinner plate in the photo is marked with 341 and the smaller is marked 140. Can you tell me something about this dinnerware? Thank you, Mary Lohmann Grantham, NH
