I found an ivory colored vase with a flower on the front that has a brown color in the raised areas around the flower. It has red wing printed on the bottom with US under that and 1031 under that. The height is 9 inches and approx. 4 inches in diameter. Can you tell me anything about it. Thank you, Lynne

I recently acquired this piece of Red Wing artware from a second hand/antique shop. I’m new to Red Wing and have tried searching for information on this and other forums. It is labeled "Red Wing USA 772" on the bottom. It is in excellent (mint?) condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, etc. There is a bit of wear on the bottom where the piece would make contact with the surface underneath… just some small areas where the glazing is worn off a bit.

It measures approx. 3.5" tall x 8" wide x 4" deep. The exterior is a light green color with a butter yellow/tan interior. As pictured, you can see there is also a silver sticker on the exterior. In red print on the sticker, there is a stylized vertical wing and it says "Red Wing Art Pottery."

When was this made? Is it desireable or common (I think it’s gorgeous, but is actually for my mother’s birthday)? What is its value?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I’m new to Red Wing, and in doing this research, I’ve come to really be interested in acquiring more pieces! Unfortunately, my local library doesn’t have any books to help me out, so I do appreciate your assistance.

probably cypress green. Top value is about $35.

I have a maroon/burgandy with a creamy grey interior, B2004 vase in excellent condition. It has the original RedWing Art Pottery sticker on the front of it. I believe it was received as a wedding gift in June of 1950. I have read that there is a difference in value based on whether it is a tyical glaze color or not… but have no idea what is "typical" for this piece. Could you tell me the approx. value I might get for this piece if I were to sell it online or at auction? Thanks J Good

What you have is a vase in the Tropicana series designed by Belle
Kogan in the Dubonet glaze. Nice vase but the glaze is nothing out
of the ordinary. Value is around $70.

The Red Wing Collectors Society has members in most every state so regardless of where you live it is likely there will be someone who appreciates and collects it. The Red Wing Collectors Society has an annual Convention in Red Wing Minnesota every July. There is an auction for members only during the Convention and a Show and Sale for members and the public. The Society also has a smaller event in February where there is a show and sale. Both of those locations are good places to sell Red Wing Pottery. In addition, the Red Wing Collectors Society has a Newsletter published six times a year. You could also purchase an ad in that newsletter. My mom has a wing ashtray with a topless Indian Maiden on it. The bottom of the ashtray says: Red Wing Potteries "Pretty Red Wing" USA. We’ve heard varying accounts on the number produced and values. Any insight you may have on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mark, the "Pretty Red Wing " ash tray was apparently manufactured for the 75th Anniversary of Red Wing Potteries, but was rejected as being to risque. The first accounts of this ash tray was that only 6 were ever made. We know this to be false as there are a number of them around and can be found for sale at times on ebay and the Red Wing conventions. These ash trays are valued between $325 & $375. Al Kohlman

Is there a list of special RWCS commemoratives available? If so, where would I find it? The list of standard commemoratives is on this website, as well as other places, but I’ve never seen a list of the specials. Anne-Marie

Annie, There is a listing of all of the special commemorative produced up to 1997 listed in a book for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Red Wing Collectors Society. Unfortunately, there is not a listing after that date but one will be produced for the 30th Anniversary in 2007. I purchased a box of misc. items at an auction last month. In the box was a large golden yellow oval-shaped dish with a leaf design. The edges of the dish sort of spill over with the leaf design. It is shallow and has RED WING USA 526 on the bottom. There is also some sort of mark in the middle, but it is not clear enough for me to see. It has a stained area in the middle and does have a crack. I believe this is a genuine Red Wing item just based on the other items this elderly lady had in her home – lots of vintage items. Hi Elisa, You have a console bowl that is part of a set–there is a frog in the shape of a deer#531, that goes with it. It was produced for many years, I would guess yours is from the late thirties. with damage and missing the frog, it may bring about 20.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

My wife was an avid and aggressive collector ( # 799 ) of all things Red Wing. She passed 18 months ago. I am now in the process of inventorying somewhere close to 400 pieces of Red Wing Dinnerware, crocks, jugs, art ware, commemeratives and collectibles. I’m looking for advice about how to approach the sale of a very large collection. According to the "identify & price" books I’ve purchased, I have some very rare and expensive items in this collection.
