Question:
Good morning! I bought an ice water stoneware piece and would like to learn more about it. After scrolling through all your questions & answers I didn’t find anything quite like it. I was hoping your experts might be able to help. The cooler measures about 15" high by 12" wide. I find no size number on it, and there is no wing. It has Red Wing Stoneware Company impressed above the spigot hole. Would you know old this cooler is, what is its value & how much does the missing wing emblem affect its value? Thank you so much for any help you can provide!! Darcy :o)
Answer: Darcy, your Red Wing Ice Water is quite rare being front stamped and then having the words Ice Water stencilled on it. I seen one of these sell a few years back and it went for $2500. I would guess the age to be close to 1895-1900. If their were a wing or leaves on your piece the value would most likely be higher. What I see as funny is that your Ice Water has molded handles. This tells me that it was most likely manufactured by the Minnesota Stoneware Company. But why is it then front stamped Red Wing Stoneware Company. Just about enough to make a guy go crazy. Al Kohlman
