Question:
Thanks Larry for your info concerning the nut tray and deviled egg tray that I submitted questions about. I have now recently joined the collector club and also did drive to Red Wing to do a bit of further investigation on these two pieces at the Antique shop in the mall. I find all of this history to be quite fascinating. Thank you for your time and efforts to keep us collectors educated! Also, i am looking to eventually purchase additional pieces when I can locate them. I didn’t find a lot at the mall. They did have a fair amount of the Bob White pattern, but not the plain with out the Bob Whites on them. I look forward to looking and locating these pieces in the future! Theresa Speltz
Answer: Theresa, you are very welcome for the information. I’m happy to learn that you found it helpful, and appreciate that you took the time to let me know. Red Wing pottery can be fun to collect, but a true collector also appreciates the history behind the pottery. You’ll never run out of things to learn about Red Wing!
The 5 section nut trays in art pottery colors are not common but they do turn up once in a while. I’ve seen them in shops, and they can be found on eBay occasionally. By far the majority of these nut trays were made in the beige fleck color. You’ll find more of them than all the other colors and decorations combined. Enjoy the hunt!
