Question:
I have what I believe is a 5 gallon Red Wing Salt Glaze Crock. It has some white staining on the outside, no identifying stamps, and some chipping on the handles. I also have a Salt Glaze lid that fits the crock, but do not believe belongs to the crock. It has several chips and nicks. I would appreciate any other information regarding these pieces including dates and value. Thank you, Michelle
Answer: Michelle, I seen a better photo of your Red Wing 5 gallon salt glazed leaf crock. With the lime stains and small chips I think the value is around $300. You may want to try some Lime-a-way gel toilet bowl cleaner on those lime stains. It won’t hurt your crock. Just give it some time to work and then scrub it down with a nice scratch pad (wear some rubber gloves). Then rinse with water. The lid is not Red Wing and would have a value around $20. Al Kohlman
