Question:
I just picked up this 30 gallon salt glazed crock..Looks to have the cobalt blue markings, and maybe a lazy 8 under 30…No other markings I can detect…Nice shape, just one or 2 small chips, minor glaze cracking, and a patch on te back without any glaze…Not sure it was post factory or not…I was thinking it was Ohio, early Western, or Red Wing???I paid a little over a hundred bucks for it…I think its really neat because I have never seen a salt glaze crock that big…Thanks TG

Answer: TG, your 30 gallon salt glazed crock is not Red Wing. Not sure who would have made it or it’s value. But you are correct. 30 gallon salt glazed crocks are a tough find. Al Kohlman
