hello-found this 5gal preserve jar,condition-unglazed area (r)side of the #5,small chip on shoulder and mouth of jar,3 sm.chips on bottom.Missing lid,How hard would it be to find one?Is it worth the effort?Value in present condition? Jar is 16"tall by 11.5 diam.great site and thanks Carlos

Answer: Carlos, you have a Red Wing 5 gallon preserve jar (or apple sauce jar as collectors call it). The lid can be found much easier than the hardware that is used to secure the lid, but it is possible find it. Value the way it sits here is around $75 to $100. Lid and hardware and value will be in the $225 range. Al Kohlman
