Question:
I have a crock ‘red wing success filter’ on front,(no lid), manufactured by Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. ‘To insure best results, etc.’ on back. 11 1/2" high by 11 1/2" wide, tiny spider on the inside bottom. Outside has 2 sets of thin blue lines around the top and bottom with some kind of indented pattern in between. Can you tell me what it was used for and it’s current value. Kathy
Answer: Kathy your Red Wing Success Filter was used for filtering water. There should be another filter top or bottom & lid to complete this piece. If there is a spigot hole on the bottom outside than this was the bottom piece. If there is a hole in the center bottom then this is the top piece. On the top piece there was a sand type filter that water passed though and of course filtered the water going into the bottom piece. With just one filter crock, and tiny spider the value is between $100 & $125. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
