Question:
I have four bowls as follows – sorry no pictures at this time.
1. 7" straight sided with 4 sets of ribs around the outside i.e. 5 indents then smooth, etc.has the #7 with a mark next to it on the bottom in perfect condition.
2. 7" regular curved sides with 6 1 1/2" raised ribs one fault or chip in lip of bowl otherwise excellent with no marking on bottom.
3. 8" same as above with 8 on bottom in excellent shape
4. 9" same as above with no bottom markings but the bottom lip has four indentations spaced evenly obviously made that way in excellent shape.
These are all the blue/reddish brown coloring – my mom recently passed away and these are items she had in antique show inventory – would like to sell them…preferably to one person but open on that. Look forward to hearing what we can expect to sell for and recommendations on how to do so…not into doing ebay, etc. Sharon
Answer: Sharon, the Red Wing sponge-ware bowls without advertising are down in value right now.
The # 1 bowl sounds like a cap bowl. Value in perfect condition is around $60.
# 2 with the chip in lid (collectors of these sponged bowls just hate chips). $25 to $30.
#3 eight inch sponged bowl $65 to $80.
#4 nine inch sponged bowl $100 to $110.
You can advertise these bowls in the classifies on this website, eBay or Craigslist. Good luck with your sales. Al Kohlman
