Question:
I picked up this crock at a flea market in south eastern Indiana today. I have several Red Wing pieces at home (oval and red wing logo). I am curious if this piece is Red Wing. Could you tell me approximately how old it is? In your opinion, what price would this bring at a sale? It is in excellent condition with only a few very small knicks on the handles. There are no cracks. I’ve never seen one like this in Indiana…Bee Stings are everywhere, but nothing like this. Thank you for any information you are able to provide. Melissa
Answer: Melissa, your 6 gallon salt glazed crock with double leaves is Red Wing. It was produced between 1867 & 1895. You do not see many crocks this small with double leaves. If put up for sale with good advertising, your crock could fetch up to $1000. I think you have a good find here. Al Kohlman
