Question:
I received this Red Wing crock a couple of years ago when my grandmother passed away. I know absolutely nothing about its history. It’s in decent/fair shape. There is a small area in front where the glaze has worn away, but it has no other major issues. I don’t have a lid. Any information about this crock would be appreciated. Kellie
Answer: Kellie, your have a very early Red Wing zinc glazed 4 gallon crock. It has the 1st Red Wing oval (called the ski oval). This tells me that your crock was produced between 1909 &1912. The markings are excellent. I has some glaze skips which do take away from the markings which is to bad. Still a nice piece with a value around $50 to $60. Al Kohlman
