Question:
We would like to know if this is Red Wing. It does not have any markings except the 6 and leaves. It has no oval. Did they all have ovals? It seems old, and has swirl marks on what I think is an unglazed bottom. My friend used to make saurkraut in it. Is it an imitation, or another company? Is there a year/value? – Thank you for any help. – Jeff
Answer: Jeff, you have a Minnesota Stoneware Company 6 gallon elephant ear crock. Some of these crocks had ovals and some did not. Many of the crocks without ovals were manufactured for Sears & Roebuck. Your crock was manufactured between 1895 & 1906 and has a value around $100 if in perfect condition. Al Kohlman
