Question:
Hi I Just bought an acreage in NE Iowa and found many old crocks in one of the buildings but this one has really caught my eye. It is in great condition. The glaze looks like the day they put it on. At the top it reads 6 ‘im guessing 6 gallon’ ,then bellow that is says Ice Water, then it has the Redwing, then bellow that is has a blue oval the says union stoneware co. Red Wing, MINN, and has a hole at the bottom for a spiket but it is missing. This is a very nice piece and i cant find anything on the internet that looks like it. Im going to try and get some pictures this week. Thanks Alex

Answer: Alex, you have a Red Wing 6 gallon Ice Water. These Ice Waters were produced before the newer Red Wing Water Coolers (1895 to around 1917 or so). They are quite prized by collectors and have a value between $700 & $800 in perfect condition. Al Kohlman
