Question:
On a No. 5 crock, marked with the redwing emblym, and stating water jar. the gaskets for the spigot are missing. What little that remained appeard to be a red fiber substance. What are the proper seals. Was there a seal on the inside/nutside ? The outside spigot rim is under cut as would be used for an o ring. Thank you Edward

Answer: Edward, the rubber gaskets that work best for these spigots are the ones you get at the hardware store for your garden hose. Most of these gaskets are red, but I prefer the black ones as they look nicer on these coolers. There should be a gasket on the outside of the cooler and one on the inside. Original gaskets were a piece of rubber most likely cut to fit. I have even found cloth used as gaskets on some of the old spigots I removed. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
