Question:
want to learn more about a cylindrcal large vessel(jar):15" high,12"diameter,grey glaze, wire and wood handles intact, blue image sais inside oval circle:Redwing,Union StonewareCo.,some#?,Redwing Minnesota. Above the oval ouline is written: Printed Dec.21 1915. The vessel has a hairline crack in bottom, holds water well. Found on ranch in Montana 30 yrs ago. Thank you for any info. Helma
Answer: Helma, you have a Red Wing Stoneware crock. There should be a number above the red wing on the crock. This number tells you how many gallons the crock holds. The patent date of Dec 21, 1915 is for the handles. Red Wing Stoneware Company had to patent the handles. So this tells me that your crock was manufactured between 195 & 1947. Hope this helps you out somewhat. Al Kohlman
