Question:
My mother gave me this crock, it is from my grandmother who passed away years ago. I would love to know more about it and if it is safe to use it for pickles., etc. or if I can use it in the garden. I would also like some suggestions on uses if it is not suitable for food products.
Answer: How wonderful to have an item that belonged to grandma! If there are no cracks you can use it for food items. I have made pickles and sour kraut in a similar, but slightly larger crock. The crock was make in the early 1900’s by the Red Wing stoneware company.
