Question:
Hello. i purchased this transition crock at an auction. if you look close to the right of the "20" there is a hairline that goes about 1/4 of the way down the crock, otherwise no damage at all! it also has 2 turkey droppings on the back. the "20" is in blue and the elephant ear stamp is black. i was wondering when it was made and the value with the hairline and the mint condition value in a fair market when times maybe get better.and any other information you may know about this peice. p.s. the crock is very very clean and markings are complete and bold as they come. no chips. thank you very much for your time
Answer: Your 20 gallon Elephant Ear Transition crock was manufacturer around 1895 to 1900 by the Minnesota Stoneware Company. If it had the oval and in mint condition $1000 with a good ecomony. Without the oval and hairline in good times, $500 to $600. Without the oval & with the hairline in today’s markets $275 to $350. Al Kohlman
