Question:
I was wondering if you could tell something about this salt glazed crock it stands 18 inches high and is 17.5 in width it does have a faint crack but it looks like it’s been there a long time. What is it and is it worth much? Thank you very much.
Answer: Your have a primitive 15 gallon North Star Stoneware Company salt glazed leaf crock (era 1890 -1896). In mint condition this crock would have a value around $1500 to $2000. With the hairline it is worth about half that price. Nice piece. Al Kohlman
