Question:
My crock was purchased in 1974(?) in the Dakotas. The wooden and metal handles appear to be original. Condition is good, shiny glaze. Markings are as follows, tho the numbers/letters are difficult to read and may not be totally accurate. It has the number 20 in large blue type and the red wing logo beneath that. Under that, within a oval is Red Wing, JN104(?), Stoneware Co., Red Wing Wis. Near one of the handles is: Patented December 21, 1915. I am interested in selling this piece but need to know as much about it as possible and it’s possible value. Thank you very much. Bobbi
Answer: Bobbi, you have a 20 gallon Red Wing crock that was manufactured between 1915 & 1947. My guess is that the red wing on your crock is about 4 1/2 inches long. If the wing is 6 inches long, the value for your crock will be higher. Value on your piece would be between $150 & $200 in perfect condition. Any chips, cracks or hairlines will reduce it value.
