Question:
This 2 Gallon Crock says in raised letters, ‘Minnesota Stoneware Co. Red Wing’. It measures 10 1/4′ round by 9 1/4′ tall. It has dark stained lines under the glaze. It’s in great condition with no crack that I can see and has a dark brown inside finish. My parents gave this to me so I was wondering if you could give it’s date, a some sort of value, and maybe help me in telling me what it may have been used for.

Answer: Mindy, your mother’s double P crock was manufactured by the Minnesota Stoneware company sometime between 1883 & 1895. It was used for canning vegetables & meats. In mint condition (because of being bottom signed) it has a value between $175 & $200. Al Kohlman
