Question:
I recently purchased a 20 pound hruska co butter crock. There is only one problem it has a crack through the advertising. I am pretty sure it is a red wing piece and was wondering if there were alot of these 20 pound crocks made and about when was it made.I was also wondering a value of this piece with the damage and the value of a mint condition one. thank you paul
Answer: Paul these advertising Red Wing 20 pound crocks were produced in the 1930′s and are in quite demand by the stoneware advertising collectors. I have seen a fair amount of these in sales and they always demanded a high price. In Mint condition and excellent markings they range in price from $2200 to $2500 or more. The crack through the advertising will greatly reduce it’s value. My best guess would be $500 to $800. Still a nice piece. Al Kohlman
