Question:
Hi,I have a #2 lb butter crock (3 5/8ths tall by 5 5/8ths wide)with a logo stating – THE GOLDEN RULE – INCORPORATED – GENERAL MERCHANDISE – PHONE 94 – EUREKA , S.D. It’s in great condition . I’ve had it about 20 years and have not found another one with the same advertising or anyone else who has ever seen one like it. In researching the store, it could possibly be connected to J.C. Penney before it’s name change in 1913. I actually have come up with some names of owners and partners of the store. Just wondering if there are any other pieces out there or anything new I can learn about it. Thanks

Answer: After looking at all of my advertising books, I was not able to come up with any information on your butter crock. If indeed this is one of the few (or only) one found, this would explain it. It looks like an absolutely gorgeous piece of advertising. Al Kohlman
