Question:
Hello, I am a guest to your site as I am looking for information on a Red Wing item I own. I have a spitoon that I have had or many years and is currently displayed in a local museum so I will describe it as best I can from memory. It is prox 12 – 14" in diameter and about 9" tall is marked Red Wing and is dark brown on upper half and yellow or grey on lower. It has a tapered to the inside hole on top and a drain hole on the side up under the top edge. Any info you can give me would be appreciated. I may be able to get a picture soon. Thank You.

Answer: Your Red Wing Spittoon sounds like very interesting. When you mention the hole in the side, it makes me believe it is either a Red Wing salt glazed German spittoon or the Red Wing White Spittoon. You also mentioned that it is signed "Red Wing" I would need to know if this was a stamp that was signed into the side of the spittoon or embossed on the bottom. With all this being said, I really would like a photo of your spittoon so I could better help you out. Al Kohlman
