Question:
Hi, I have a 4 1/2" blue and white spongeware jug that says Red Wing 1990 Convention on the bottom, but according to all I read on the web the commemorative jug for 1990 was a brown shouldered jug with a wing on it. What do I have and does it have any value? Thank you for your help. Vicki Young

Answer: Hello Vicki. Your sponge ware jug is one of the few 1990 Red Wing Special Commemoratives produced for the July Convention in 1990. There were fewer than 20 of these special commemoratives produced. All the other commemoratives had an Albany slip (brown) top and beige bottom. You special commemorative should have come with a box, card and a paper Red Wing attached to the jug. A special commemorative with everything included can bring $500 and up. Your jug without the original box, card and paper sticker could still bring in the area of $200 to $250. Al Kohlman
