Question:
I have a large tan speckled bowl that is marked under the bowl RED WING USA caan you tell me something about this bowl. Marlene

Answer: This bowl was introduced in the late 1950s and most likely made until Red Wing Potteries closed in 1967. The shape was borrowed from the Casual dinnerware line and is identical to the large salad bowl in the Bob White and Round Up patterns but without the bird or cowboy artwork. This plain salad bowl was not part of any dinnerware pattern. Red Wing’s "Gift or Novelty Items" brochure included items that didn’t fit in their dinnerware or art pottery catalogs, and it shows this bowl along with a wooden salad fork and spoon. Smaller 6 inch bowls in the same shape and color were also made to go with this larger bowl.

This 12 inch salad bowl must have sold well because it is very common today. Value for the bowl in excellent condition is $10-15.
