Question:

On the dinner plates there is a red apple with leaves on top of apple & apple blossoms. On the back are two capital letters RW the W a little lower than the R Encircled in an oval saying Red Wing Pottery Co. Could you help me find this pattern & about the year it was made? Thankyou, Therese Slesinsky. Looking forward to hearing from you. Therese

Answer: There are three different Red Wing plates that feature an apple in the design. But your description includes apple blossoms as well as an apple and that fits the Normandy pattern. Normandy was initially introduced in 1941 decorated with only maroon and blue bands — no apple. It was made for only a year then was discontinued. Normandy was later redesigned with the more familiar apple and blossoms; this version was made from 1949 to 1952.
