Larry, Thanks for your envelope answer: I am trying to send you a photo of this envelope. As I am hoping that I might be able to donate it to the historical society in honor of my mother.
Answer: Thank you for providing a photo of the envelope; it helps a lot. The text is essentially as you stated in your earlier post. There is no link to any pottery production items of the day or a company letterhead, it’s simply a nice Christmas message to employees. The name of H. J. Barghusen is typed at the bottom of the note; it is not a signature which would be considered more valuable. Mr. Barghusen was the general manager when this 1954 Christmas bonus was given.
The value for this envelope isn’t great because of the missing elements described above (signature, letterhead, connection to production items). Probably no more than $10 to $20. But it is a piece of history from the Potteries and I’m sure either the Goodhue Historical Society or the RWCS Foundation would be very happy to receive it.
