Question:
I have a redwing watercooler with lid and water dispenser and the cooler sets on a base. the cooler has the dancing cowboys on it. I am told the water tap is brass (but it is siver in color) It is in mint condition and i am looking for an estimate of value as i would like to sell. I am sorry that i am not able to send a picture with this request.
Answer: If your water cooler was made by Red Wing Potteries and is decorated with a cowboy theme, then it is from the Round Up dinnerware pattern and has considerable value. However, there are no dancing cowboys on a Round Up cooler. There is a cactus, an Old West wagon, a coffee pot and pan setting on rocks, and a cowboy holding a fry pan and shouting. The cowboy is the camp cook and he is likely shouting out "Come and get it". The base (or stand) for the cooler depicts a cowboy on a fence.
Round Up is among Red Wing’s more popular dinnerware patterns and is highly sought by collectors. The water cooler is probably the most difficult piece to find. A complete Round Up water cooler with cover and stand, all in mint condition, would be worth at least $1000 and probably more to the right collector.
