Question:
I have inherited a 12 place setting of Redwing Blossom Time dishes, bowls, cups, and accessory pieces. Are these collectable? When were they made? What would be the value range of the collection and/or individual pieces? All of them appear to be in excellent condition….one dinner plate has a very small chip on the underside of the edge….I would carefully inspect and itemize the collection, with pictures, if I were to sell them.
Answer: The Blossom Time pattern is certainly collectible, but would not be considered a "hot" pattern by most Red Wing collectors. The supply of Blossom Time seems to be greater than the demand. Blossom Time was introduced in the late 1940s and produced into the mid-1950s. To provide a viable estimate of the value I would need an accurate list of the pieces included with your set. From the limited information provided your set might be worth $200 to $300, but the value could be significantly lower or higher depending the items involved (especially the accessory pieces) and their condition. Even slight damage reduces value significantly as many collectors will not consider buying pieces that are less than "perfect".
