Question:
Al – I saw a recent posting where you said a 10-gallon Red Wing Water Cooler (if perfect) might be in the $500-$700 range. Today I saw one at an antique shop as follows. No cracks, chips or hairlines. Bright blue, bold lettering. However, the one flaw was that about half of one of the stoneware handle mounts (the back half) is broken off. Assuming the rest of the cooler is as I’ve described, how badly will that kill the market value? Since the back-half is the missing part of the handle, the cooler presents very well from the front. Thanks. Chris

Brushed sand jar yellow inside
Question:
I have had a green and "brushed" sand jar, but just found a jar that is yellow inside and out. The images are very crisp and defined — do you have any info thanks Art
Answer: Red Wing did make a Tan brushed ware glaze, and the interior is a glossy version of the same glaze. It would date to around 1930. Is it the doe/buck sand jar? there are a couple other shapes as well, but it’s the most common. Apic would be great. Most of these sandjars sell for 3-500. thanks, steve n rose

6 gallon large wing crock
Question:
We found what we assume is an old 6 gallon Red Wing Stoneware piece under the workbench at our cabin this weekend. It has a large red wing on it under the six. It says "Patented Dec. 21st 1915." next to one of the handles. It’s about 14.25 inches tall and has about a 12 inch circumfrence. It only has one handle and is in very good shape. There are no major scuffs on it. Jerry
