question from: kate.scoones@shaw.ca

Question:
Dear Red Wing Experts,
This ‘Chef’ cookie jar is in mint condition. It has the Red Wing stamp on the bottom but it is extremely faint so does not show in a photograph. Would one of you give me an idea of the value of this piece?

Thanks very much, Kate

Red Wing Bowl 414, fleck zephyr pink

Question:
I have a beautiful red wing bowl #414 that was purchased in MN @ 1936 to our knowledge. It is pink with grey speckles on the outside and has a beautiful grey glaze on the inside. It is @ 8 1/2 inches in diameter from the outside of the bowl and 6 3/4 inch from the inside lip across in diameter. It is in absolutely mint condition (don’t think it was ever out of the box) and has no scratches, chips or discolorations. Could you please tell me if the date of purchase is correct and also the value of this piece? I am attaching a picture…….thank you for your time! Diane

Answer: Hi Diane, the glaze gives this one away, Fleck Zephyr Pink, from around 1952. Value is around 25.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

4 Red Wing Creamation Urns

Question:
I Have 4 Red Wing cremation urns. I think they are what you call green ware. 3 of them have holes in the bottom that are stopped up by corks. The most recent one I purchased does not have the hole. I was wondering of the values of the urns and why does one not have the hole. Is it a different age? Thanks for your time. John

Answer: Hi John, these are cemetery markers, or flower holders, not a cremation pot. They are from the late 20′s, brushed ware. Some have the hole, others don’t , just a variation. The water would drain, and not crack the pot, so I assume the ones with holes would be a later version. Value is around 125.00 each. thanks, steve n rose

Question:
I have a piece of Red Wing that appears to be a candle sconce. It has the number M1454 and the letter R beneath it. It is white in color and measures approximately 11" in length. Yes and it also is marked Red Wing USA. Do you have any information on this piece? Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. Ruby

Answer: Hi Ruby

these were designed by charles murphy in 1954. There is a 1455, with 3 candleholders on it, that matches. I assume the R is for right. Value is around 50.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
