Tip Toe Butter dish

Question:
Can you please tell me about this Red Wing butter dish? Dish approximately 7 5/8”W X 4 1/8”D X 3/8”H Lid approximately 6 1/8”W X 2 ½”D X 1 7/8”H There are no chips or cracks that I can see but there are about a dozen minor imperfections that appear to have been part of the manufacturing and painting processes. Most are on the underside of the dish or lid rather than on the exposed surfaces. The lid has a simple floral design of gold, tan and brown on an off-white background. On the dish and lid there is a beige 1/2” wide band outlined in brown. On the bottom of the dish is a reddish-purple winged logo that says: REDWING HAND PAINTED U.S.A. 128

Red Wing #1296

Question:
I recently purchased the #1296 bird vase for $12.00, the only trouble being the vase has two hairlines inside and it appears someone tried to "pretty it up" by outlining the rim and bird and flowers with gold paint. Is there anything you can recommend to remove the gold paint? And what is the value of the vase, if any? Thank-you

Answer: Any mild paint stripper will take off the added "decoration", and won’t hurt the vase. If the lines don’t go thru to the outside, it should be fine. Value is arund 50.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing M5011, Flower Pitcher, 2 gallon crock

Question:
I have 3 Redwing pieces I am curious about. The first is a bowl, beige/brown in color, 5 1/2 inches across, three small pointed legs, it has a gold & red Redwing seal on it and is stamped on the bottom "Red Wing USA M-5011. The second is a handpainted pitcher with flower motif, 9 inches high. It has the Redwing logo and the word "handpainted" on the bottom in red. Lastly I have a 2 gallon crock with the Redwing logo on the front, the #2 and a painted seal that reads "Redwing Potteries, Inc." in blue, also on the front. I am just curious of a need or want of these items and a value range. I thank you for your time. I am very sorry I am unable to provide pictures, as I do not have a digital camera. Thank you again and I await your response.

Answer: Hi, the first is a bowl from the Garden club line, circa 1957. value is around 20.00 or so.

The pitcher I believe is from a dinnerware line, but I can’t say which pattern it is, or give you a value

The crock has a value of around 75.00 or so, the larger the wing the better. thanks, steve n rose

Answer: I agree with steve n rose that your pitcher is likely from one of the dinnerware lines. But Red Wing made many different floral dinnerware patterns and identification of your pitcher from the brief description provided is not possible. A photo would certainly help; if that isn’t possible a more detailed description that includes the color of the pitcher and artwork along with a description of the artwork and the pitcher’s shape would probably suffice.
