What is the best way to use a Red Wing Crock as a planter?
It is possible to use your Red Wing Crock as planter outside with soil as long as it has good drainage. In the bottom of the crock we would recommend either 4 inches of sand and stone on the bottom for drainage or simply place another pot in the crock so water can drain from it into the crock.
As soon as the weather in your area get to be 32 degrees or colder, you need to move the crock inside (not in an unheated garage either). If the crock is not move there is a risk of damage from the water or moist soil. The cold temperature will
freeze the the two and both the water and soil will expand and crack the crock.

Question:
I inherited a bowl from my Grandmother that I really love using because it is so unique (in my opinion). It is a gorgeous teardrop shaped bowl, forest green on the outside and butter yellow on the inside with a leaf imprint on the inside. On the bottom of the bowl is imprinted with Red Wing USA B2108. Would you be able to tell me a bit more about this piece? Thank you. Robin
Answer: Hi Robin, this bowl comes from the Textura Line, designed by Belle Kogan, circa 1950. There are several other shapes that go along with it. The glaze is called Woodland Green. Value is around 25.00. thanks, steve n rose

8 Gallon Wing Crock
Question:
I’m wondering if you can help me identify and value 3 of my crocks that I am thinking of selling. I know the 8 is a red wing, but it has a nice size chip, so I don’t know what the value would be. Then there is the one that is either a 2 or a 3, is that a red wing too? that one has a crack that I have shown that does go all the way through to the inside. Finally there is the 6 that I have no idea what it is. the crack on that one does not go all the way through. I bought them all like this years ago at a garage sale and haven’t done anything with them. Is there some care I should take so the cracks don’t get worse if I decide to keep them? Thank you for your time. Loreen
