The MidWinter GetTogether February 8-10.

It is with great excitement that the RWCS Business Office announces that the 2008 MidWinter Show and Sale on February 9th from 1:oopm to 4:00pm is sold out!

The MidWinter Show and Sale will have 46 sellers tables filling the room to capacity with Red Wing Stoneware, Dinnerware, and Art Pottery at the Holiday Inn and Suites, Des Moines, IA.

In addition to this jam packed Show and Sale room there will be educational sessions, Kids View, Room Sales, and auction organized by Houghton’s Auction Service. Click here to learn more about MidWinter.

It is not to late to register. Pre-registration will be open until the January 31st. RWCS Members can register by logging in to the Members Only section of website, calling the Business Office at 800-977-7927, or mailing a registration form today.

The MidWinter will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 4800 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines IA, February 8-10. You must be a current member and registered for MidWinter in order to attend the event. If you are not a member you can join today or the day of the event at the registration table.

Attention RWCS Members and Chapters!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For every NEW PRIMARY MEMBER that a current RWCS Member recruits to join the RWCS between now and July 1, 2008, your name will be entered in to a drawing to win free Society membership for one year and registration to either the 2009 MidWinter GetTogether or the July Convention.

Any member that recruits five or more NEW PRIMARY MEMBERS to the RWCS during the program will automatically have their membership renewed for free for one year!

This program is also open to all RWCS Chapters!

The Chapter with the most NEW PRIMARY MEMBERS joining the Society will have first bragging rights to the traveling Little Brown Jug of Membership. This trophy will be presented at the 2008 Convention and the program will be an annual event.

Whether they Join Online , send in an Application, or apply over the phone it is simple! They just need write the referral information:

• Name and/or membership number for the referring current member
• Name of the Chapter referring the new member

2008 Education Sessions

The Education Manager, Terry Speedy has released the Education Sessions for MidWinter along with the Key Note Address information.

The MidWinter GetTogether Keynote will be one you won’t want to miss. RWCS Member Dave Kuffel will be talking about the recently discovered and preserved Red Wing Potteries Ledger Book. Attend MidWinter and learn all about the latest information regarding the Ledger book!

In addition, their will be education session regarding art pottery, salt glaze, ebay, recent dump finds. The RWCS Business Office has received so much positive feedback on the Online Membership Services, Bonnie Myers will be offering a session to show everyone what this new service has to offer you the member.

There was such a positive response to the KidsView program in 2007 we are forging ahead with another program "Clowning Around". The kids will have the opportunity to paint Clown faced mugs and other great projects. More information come soon.

Meeting Announced

Chapter President Steve Splittgerber announces the next meeting of the Nebraska RedWingers will be held in the Home of Rex and Pat Lucke, 2827 Cimarron Circle, Elkhorn, NE, on December 9th, 2007 at 12:00 Noon.

Lunch will be served with the meeting to follow. Our Education for the day will be a review of the Nebraska items found in the Red Wing pottery ledger.

2007 July Convention Auction

Prices Realized Catalog!

The 2007 July Convention Auction wit the 300-lot auction reached $200,030 in total sales, which eclipsed our previous record by nearly $20,000.

This years auction was a Salt Glaze auction with the top piece in the membership consignment auction was a 30 gallon salt glaze lily crock stenciled "Made by Red Wing Stoneware Co., Red Wing, Minnesota" in cobalt and front-stamped "Red WIng Stoneware Company." Although the piece had hairlines and repair, only a few of these highly desirable pieces are known to exist, resulting in the final bid of $13,750.

Other highlights included a Red Wing art pottery white-glaze triple-nude Athenian group table lamp $1350, Lunch hour retirement plate for $1000 and Albany slip Cow & Calf for $8400.
