SEE NOTE FROM YOUR WEBSITE Answer: Your rooster teapot is one of many items in the Gypsy Trail Hostessware line. Gypsy Trail dinnerware was introduced in 1935 and included four patterns. During the World War II years metals were reserved for military use. To help fill the void, Red Wing introduced a wide array of accessory items that could be used alone or with any of the Gypsy Trail patterns. Your #257 rooster teapot was introduced in 1944, along with several other figural teapots. Production of the Hostessware line ended not long after the end of World War II.

The rooster teapot is not rare but examples in excellent condition can be hard to find. The cover slips off easily and thus is often missing or damaged. There are many points on the rooster (such as the beak or comb) that are easily chipped or broken. And from my collecting experience the pink color is not common. The value of this teapot in excellent condition would be $75 to $125, and perhaps a bit more to a collector who wants the pink color. Larry
