Hello, I have a small Red Wing (I think) spongeware bowl that was passed down to me from my grandmother. It measures 5 3/8 inches across from the top outside edge. I was at an antique show several years ago and a dealer was asking $600 for an identical bowl. I asked him why that one was so much more than any other ones he had and he said that the 5 inch bowl is very rare. Is this true? The bottom is about 3 inches across and it has 6 raised "ribs " around the outside. Thank you for any information you can give me as to it’s value. Let me know if you need a picture.

Linda, the Red Wing 5 " sponged panel bowl is the rarest of these bowls. If the bowl has dark outstanding sponge of Red and Blue, they can demand $600. The lighter the sponge the less the value. Al Kohlman

Barb, my best guess is that the Red Wing on your crock is 4 1/2 " long from it’s longest points. If this is the case, your crock was manufactured between 1915 & 1930. If the wing is 2 7/8 " long it was made after 1930. The larger the wing, the greater the value. A 3 " chip will reduce the value of your crock. With the chip I would estimate a value of $50 to $75. I have a blue & white pitcher marked Red Wing Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn. in a circle on the bottom with blue wing in center. The commerative pitcher says "Hometown Family Christmas Red Wing, MN 1999 " in blue script. It is about 7 1/2 inches tall in Mint condition. I also have a cup with the same bottom mark that has an app. 2 inch red wing on the side. There is a "RED WING SHOES" marking imprinted over the Red Wing Emblem- but parts are hard to read as the letters are clear and some are outside the Red Wing Emblem and hard to read! The cup has a blue band at the top. It has a hairline crack on the side opposite the red wing emblem. Just curious to know app. values. Can send pictures if needed. THANKS so much. Linda B.

Linda, Your blue & white pitcher and your cup are reproductions most likely manufactured by the new Red Wing Stoneware Company. Because I do not deal in or collect reproductions, I would not be able to give you a value on the pitcher or cup. Not knowing what they sold for new, leaves me at a lost. If someone could take a minute to respond, I would greatly appreciate it. A neighbor just gave me a lemonade or beverage dispenser to have a silent auction at my garage sale this week to raise some money to help pay my dog’s vet bill. It includes a dispenser, a crock like stand and the cover to the dispenser (which was dropped and broke but could be cleanly repaired). She said she won this 3 piece set at an employee picnic for Schweigert Meats back in the 60′s or 70′s and believes it had belonged to the owner at one time. It has some decals on it that say "Enjoy Refreshing Lemonade". I thought it was yellow ware pottery but I brought it into an antique shop and a couple of the dealers told me it was probably "unmarked" Red Wing Pottery? One piece does have a raised mark on the bottom that says USA. Is it possible that this was Red Wing? Is there Red Wing pottery that is not marked Red Wing? Should I take some pictures and send them to you? If this is not som! ething you help with, can you direct me to someone who may specialize in this and could help? Merri, your lemonade cooler is not Red Wing. I am not sure who the manufacturer is, so I am of little help that way. You mention that the cooler was dropped and broke. This will have a major impact on the value. My best quess on it’s worth would be in the $30 to $50 range. Good luck. Al Kohlman

I recently found 2 redwing crocks both have in a square blue box "Prefection sanitary self draining jars" One is a 40 gallon and one is a 25 gallon. The 25 has the large red wing the 40 is missing the wing. Both are marked the same other than the wing. The bottom is tapered with a hole for a vlave to be inserted in the middle of the bottom. The top is open they would have had to set in a stand. What would be the value of these. Thannks Tony L.

Tony, these self drainers do not carry the value the normal crocks do. This is because they require a stand and take up additional room. With no damage, the value of the 40 gallon is approximately $700 to $900. The 25 is around $225 to $275. Al Kohlman
